Meet Christopher

Christopher Cummins has spent more than 30 years photographing people and creating portraits designed to become lasting pieces of artwork.
His interest in photography began in high school and led to a degree in photography from the University of Missouri. He later worked as a photojournalist for publications around the country before returning to Kansas City in 2003 to open his own portrait studio.
Christopher’s approach combines traditional photographic portraiture with the richness and depth of classical painting. The photography is only the beginning. Each portrait is carefully finished to create the color, texture and depth that give the final artwork its distinctive character.
Just as important is the experience of creating it. Christopher works personally with every client and has a relaxed, often playful approach that helps people — and dogs — become comfortable in front of the camera. He believes the strongest portraits are not simply flattering photographs, but honest expressions of the relationships and personalities that make a family unique.
For more than two decades, Portraits By Christopher has served families throughout the Kansas City area, creating finished portrait artwork designed to be enjoyed in their homes for years to come.
